25 Tips To Improve Your Wellbeing & Quality of Life

If you're looking for some useful tips that will make your life easier, more fulfilling, and better in general then we believe these straightforward suggestions may lead you on the right path towards a simpler lifestyle.

What is the meaning of wellbeing?

If you only read the dictionary definition, it states that well-being is "the state of being happy, healthy, or prosperous." but this is a rather shallow and simplistic definition that leaves more than meets the eyes, shall we say.

However the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has a more complete definition.

"Good living conditions (e.g., housing, employment) are fundamental to well-being. However, many indicators that measure living conditions fail to measure what people think and feel about their lives, such as the quality of their relationships, their positive emotions and resilience, the realization of their potential, or their overall satisfaction with life—i.e., their “well-being.”1, 2 Well-being generally includes global judgments of life satisfaction and feelings ranging from depression to joy." - Center for Disease Control & Prevention

In the Journal of Experimental Psychology, they discuss how:

"Pursuing happiness in an individualistic culture like the United States may be defined in highly self-oriented ways, whereas happiness in collectivist cultures found in regions such as East Asia may be defined in terms of social engagement." - Journal of Experimental Psychology

How's Life? Report by the OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). This is an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives.

They found that in OECD countries (37 countries members), more people are reporting higher life satisfaction than a few years ago but many feel disconnected. I out 11 people say they don't have relatives or friends they can count on for help. And the problem is worse among older generations.

It also states that studies on 7 countries show that we are spending half an hour less per week socializing. And 7% of people in OECD countries report very low life satisfaction. The OECD How's Life Report noticed that people have more disposable income than a decade ago, they are more likely to have jobs and feel more safely in the streets. But median household is falling. Countries where wellbeing is highest are generally the ones where inequalities are lowest. - OECD"s "How"s Life?" Report

As they state, it has become evident that countries need to work on developing policies that reconnect with our well-being. And typically, countries who invest a lot in social programs like France, Canada, Ireland, Norway, the UK tend to do better toward the attainment of our well-being.

How's Life in These Countries - Key Findings By Country

Australia - Canada - United States - France - United Kingdom - Italy - Mexico - Russia
